Joseph Robinette

Joseph Robinette’s practice focuses on corporate transactions, commercial agreements, antitrust counseling, intellectual property (IP) law and licensing, and unfair competition law. Before joining Wood + Lamping, Joseph served for many years as General Counsel to the United States Playing Card Company, the manufacturer of the well-known Bicycle® brand. He was also a member of the team of attorneys who wrote the winning motion for summary judgment in the significant antitrust case, Medical Center at Elizabeth Place v. Premier Health Partners, case 3:12–cv.26, Southern District of Ohio (2014).

Joseph heads the firm’s IP Practice Area. Joseph has broad experience advising companies concerning the global protection of their Intellectual Property assets, including developing effective anti-counterfeiting strategies for companies that distribute products internationally. He has counseled business clients concerning their trademark protection strategy — including how to best identify their goods and services in the registration process; trademark oppositions and cancellation actions; whether, given their particular circumstances, they are better served filing under the Madrid Protocol, European Union Trademark (EUTM), or securing registration on a jurisdiction by jurisdiction basis; and the practical aspects of IP enforcement and litigation.

Joseph also has legal experience with the following:

  • Negotiation and drafting of trademark and product licenses for clients with Fortune 100 and foreign companies
  • Negotiation and drafting of national and international sales and distribution agreements for clients
