Andrew R. Kaake

Andrew Kaake is a partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Area.  Through his years of experience representing employers, he has become well versed in all aspects of employment law, including discrimination, harassment, medical leave, disability accommodation, drafting of handbooks and workplace policies, record-keeping, workplace investigations, and employee discipline.  Andrew provides advice and counsel to a wide range of companies, from small family-owned businesses, to Fortune 500 corporations.  Andrew has litigated employment matters before Ohio’s federal and state courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.  He is skilled and experienced in all aspects of employment litigation, including discovery, depositions, dispositive and pretrial motions, oral arguments (including arguing before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals), mediation, and trial advocacy.

Andrew has unique expertise and interest in the area of occupational safety and health law.  He has represented numerous employers, both large and small, in safety-related claims, including in defending against OSHA citations, VSSR claims, and intentional tort law suits.  He also provides proactive advice and counsel on the development of workplace safety policies and procedures, investigations of workplace accidents, drug and alcohol testing, and properly documenting and recording workplace injuries and illnesses.  Andrew is well known in the local safety community and is a Senior Advisor with FDR Safety, a leading national safety consulting firm.

In his free time, Andrew enjoys hiking and the outdoors with his family, coaching and playing soccer, and enjoying the arts, particularly theater.  Andrew is the President of the Board of New Edgecliff Theatre, a small, professional theatre group that has been performing in Cincinnati for 20 years.
