Mr. Korbee is an experienced civil litigator, arbitrator, and mediator. Hal serves as an arbitrator on a wide variety of legal matters for the American Arbitration Assocation, including all aspects of employment law, labor disputes, ERISA matters, and general breach of contract actions. Hal’s extensive experience as a civil litigator encompasses virtually every area of the law.
Over the course of his career, he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants and has tried cases including labor and employment matters, personal injury lawsuits, and malpractice lawsuits in federal and state courts. Hal is licensed to practice in Ohio state and federal courts and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Korbee has published articles on a wide variety of topics including trustee fiduciary responsibility, selection and use of legal counsel in multi-employer benefit plans and ERISA plan termination and mergers. He has been a frequent speaker for companies, unions, and Boards of Trustees throughout the United States since the enactment of ERISA in 1974. Since joining Wood + Lamping in 1981, Mr. Korbee has served as chair and co-chair of the firm’s Litigation and Labor Department and as the firm’s Managing Partner from 1987-1993 and again in 2003. Mr. Korbee has also served as an arbitrator in numerous cases for the American Arbitration Association. Hal was included on the Ohio Super Lawyers® list by Law & Politics magazine annually from 2006 to 2013. In 2013, Mr. Korbee was admitted to the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, an association whose membership consists of Alternate Dispute Resolution professionals. Members are distinguished by their hands-on experience in the field of civil and commercial conflict resolution, and by their commitment to the practice of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Mr. Korbee was the recipient of the annual 2014 John P. Kiely Professionalism Award from the Cincinnati Bar Association in recognition of outstanding trial skills, high ethical standards and professional decorum. He resides in Estero, Florida, and West Chester, Ohio, with his wife Carol, and remains active in many church and community organizations.
