Ben Cramer practices in the firm’s Tax Law, Business Law, and Litigation Practice Groups. Ben focuses his practice on helping businesses, business owners, and individuals resolve civil and criminal tax disputes, navigate business concerns, and maximize tax benefits.
Ben represents clients in tax audits and defends against tax collection actions, such as tax liens, tax levies, and garnishments. He has helped clients who failed to file tax returns for three years, those who failed to file for thirty years, and everything in between. He is experienced in settling tax debt through offers in compromise, installment agreements, penalty abatement, tax litigation, and other settlement programs. He is experienced in using the bankruptcy process to resolve tax debt, and often collaborates with bankruptcy counsel.
There is no greater legal worry than facing criminal charges. Ben represents clients accused of tax evasion, tax fraud, and related white collar crimes.
Ben knows the stress tax problems can cause, and the damage they could inflict on a client’s business and reputation. His clients include doctors, rock stars, professional athletes, elected officials, community leaders, clergy, bankers, accountants, business owners, and others who needed legal help–and privacy.
Ben is a trusted advisor and outside counsel to dozens of businesses and their owners in tax matters and general business issues such as business formation, business sales and acquisitions, contract negotiation, business disputes, and other matters.
Ben is a frequent speaker on tax issues. His recent presentations include “Resolving Tax Issues with the Post-Pandemic IRA” and “Bankruptcy and Insolvency for the Tax Practioner.” He has hosted roundtable discussions with IRS officials and local tax professionals, and was a featured speaker for the Southwestern Ohio Tax Administrator’s Association regarding developments in municipal tax law.
At various times in his career, Ben served chair of the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Taxation Law Committee, chair of the planning committee for the Southwestern Ohio Tax Institute, and chair of the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Solo and Small Firm Practitioner’s Committee.
Outside of the office, Ben lives in Anderson Township with his wife and two sons. He is active in his church parish and regularly donates time to the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati’s Volunteer Lawyers Project.
