December 18, 2025

Our very own Jan Frankel and her husband, John Cobey, were recently honored with the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Cincinnati’s 2025 National Human Relations Award for their community service endeavors and support of AJC’s vital advocacy and coalition-building work!

Jan is a respected estate planning and elder law attorney at Wood + Lamping LLP and has more than 46 years of experience guiding families through complex legal matters. Deeply committed to her clients, she has also helped shape Ohio law through decades of service with the Ohio State Bar Association. Her leadership spans Rockdale Temple, Cedar Village Foundation, Hillel at UC, Cincinnati Zoo, and the Jewish Federation. As past Chair of the Jewish Home of Cincinnati, she supports services that help seniors age with dignity and purpose.

Jan’s husband, John Cobey, has spent his life blending professional success with service. He’s served on more than 40 nonprofit boards, championing environmental preservation, youth justice reform, and civil rights. His dedication to Jewish institutions includes leadership roles with Hillel, Rockdale Temple, and American Jewish Committee. He currently chairs a medical nonprofit serving 55,000 annual visits for the homeless. He also serves on legal, arts, and academic boards.

John and Jan exemplify enduring commitment to justice, equity, and community well-being, and we couldn’t be prouder!
