Attorney Howard L Richshafer Scheduled to Present “Tax Fraud—From the Defense Attorney’s Perspective”

Mr. Richshafer is scheduled to present a one-hour lecture on “Tax Fraud—From the Defense Attorney’s Perspective” at the 48th Annual University of Cincinnati Income Tax Conference on December 8, 2015. This Conference is primarily attended by professional tax advisers, attorneys, paralegals, bankers, financial planners and anyone whose business or profession is impacted by federal income tax law.

Mr. Richshafer joined Wood & Lamping in 2008.  His law practice focuses on civil and criminal tax problems, estate planning and probate, tax court trial work, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate business matters.  He has extensive experience representing clients facing all types of civil and criminal tax problems with IRS. Those problems include IRS audits, IRS criminal investigations, tax evasion, failing to file tax returns, false tax returns, enforced collection of unpaid tax liabilities involving levies, liens, and seizures of assets and income. He was previously a federal agent with IRS/U.S. Treasury Department and is also a licensed Ohio CPA.

Since 2001, Mr. Richshafer has been included in Woodward/White’s The Best Lawyers in America© under federal taxation. He was selected by Best Lawyers® as the 2013 Cincinnati Litigation & Controversy Tax “Lawyer of the Year” and was more recently named the Best Lawyers® 2014 Cincinnati Tax “Lawyer of the Year.”  He was recently selected by his peers to be included in the 2015 edition of “The Best Lawyers in America®” under litigation and tax controversy.  This is the 15th consecutive year that Mr. Richshafer has been included in that publication.

Martindale Hubbell/LexisNexis recognized Mr. Richshafer as AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated, the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards. He has authored over 100 tax articles including a manual on “Ohio Limited Liability Companies,” which he co-authored.  His articles have been published in the Journal of Taxation, Ohio Lawyer, and Corporate Controller.  He is also the author of a chapter titled “Deductions for Profit-Motivated Activities,” which is part of Matthew Bender & Company’s online Federal Tax Research Library.

Mr. Richshafer lectures extensively at professional tax seminars, symposiums, and tax law institutes.  And since 1980, he is also adjunct professor of law at the University of Cincinnati in the masters of accounting and tax programs.
